Milestone

Argh!!!! Something must be terribly wrong with my computer. I typed a looooooong post and the browser just shut off by itself. I got so angry that I can’t be bothered to type another posting until 3 days later, which is, today. Anyway, the post was about Sheryl Ang turning 20 month and having show signs of the “terrible two” phrase already. She just seems to or rather wants to provoke me on purposely. Long gone are the days when she will do whatever I asked her to and it was like only 2 months back? Why was the change in behavior so sudden? I guess it is part of the development. She will just refused to eat after she request for her lunch, refused to sleep when she is clearly very tired and refuse to let me wear her diapers. Many mummies have told me that this is a passing phrase and it is normal and soon be over. I hope it is true. Oh well, below are some of the things that happens on a daily basis. Oh ya, her vocab has expanded quite a bit too.

When we are downstair
- Mummy, (go)upstair

When we are upstair
- Mummy, go down

When I am cooking
- Mummy, make bread
- Mummy, bee cake (biscuit)
- Mummy, nana (banana)
- Mummy, go sit (and feed me)
- Mummy, mum mum
- Mummy, see (wanting to see what I am cooking in the pan)

When I am watching tv
- Mummy, come play
- Mummy, play toys
- Mummy, kick ball
- Mummy, cook cook (in her toy kitchen)
- Mummy, eat (after she cooked)
- Mummy, fork

Before she sleep
- Mummy, milk milk
- Daddy, make milk milk
- Mummy, book ( to read her stories)
- Mummy, make bread

Other random
- water boil
- (Micro)wave! (when she heard the “ting” sound)
- Bird bird, dog dog, cat cat, aeroplane, car, diaper, (body)cream, water…and so on..

Sometimes it so funny when she repeats after her daddy and myself but not so funny when we were cursing. You know like the word “sh*t” and …. ok i better not say it! It can be really comical but I rather she learn the right things. Anyway, there’s so much to write. Will udpate often.

At the moment, I just hope I won’t need to use the cane too often!

Sheryl will stay over at her Po po (my mum’s) house every twice a week. The usual evening routine will be to wait for her Gong Gong (who she affectionately call GONG!) to come back from work and bring her to the Hougang Mall. Last evening my dad was not free so my mum and myself bought her to the Hougang Mall. There was lots of chinese decor on sale and she was happily clapping away when she saw the colorful lights. My mum told me she will do this everytime they bring her to the Hougang Mall. Anyway, this time round, there were a few children gathering around to see some toy tiger that was jumping around on the ground. Sheryl was a tad apprehensive at first and kept a distance away from the toy. She soon warmed up after seeing so many children around. Sheryl was standing quite a distance away when the bigger children start squatting down and playing with the toy tiger. Seeing this, Sheryl too walked over and squatted next to a small boy. She was pointing and ‘talking’ to the little boy in her own baby language. I was standing a distance looking at her when I realised that my little baby is no longer a baby anymore! She now knows how to socialise and joined in a group! Seeing her little self squatting there with the group of children (I wished I had a pic to show) filled my eyes with tears of joy. Ok I know you must that think I am exaggerating but really, I can’t believe my little baby is almost 15month old already. I love you baby! :) May you grow up healthy and happy always!

She decided to push it instead since it’s moving too slowly for her

And she tried to be naughty and climb on the bikey instead of resting her butt on the seat

Look what happened?

Lastly, a pic with her favourite Jasmine jie jie!

My baby took half a step unassisted last night! All of us were in front of the Tv watching the F1 race when baby just stand up and walk (ok a little)! I managed to catch her first step!

Am a happy mum! :)

Being a full time mother has certainly enable me to monitor Sheryl’s development better (and also to take lotsa pictures of her). I love it when I opened my eyes in the morning and see her peering over me with her little toothy grin. Since I am around her most of the time, I am often the first one to know when she learns how to say mama, baba, or when she learns a new skill like searching and reaching for her toys under the sofa. Now and then when she is asleep, I like to look through all the pictures that I’ve taken of her since the day she was born. Looking at how much she has grown always bring along some tears of contentment.

I have been really busy. Though I am working part time, the work seems endless. Thus, I have not been blogging.

Excuses! I know.

Yea. I won’t deny that.

Just a quick note, my little Sheryl can finally flipped from tummy to back at 6 month 1 week after she learnt how to flipped from back to her ummy at her 3rd month. 3 months to learn how to roll in both direction!! I think she’s getting lazy! haha..Ok, she also able to sit without support for like 5 minutes? Begins blabbering and squealing. Started her on solids and she loves it. However I think I shouldn’t have started her on pumpkins too soon. Now she simply won’t eat her brown rice paste without my mummy adding some fruits into it. hmm…point to note for my number 2. Ok in case you are wondering, no, I am not pregnant yet. :P

I can’t explain the slow height gain. In fact alot of people have commented that she looked quite tall (or long?) for her age?! Where has all the calcium from her milk powder gone to??

Anyway, I used a growth chart for ang mo babies. I think for ang mo standard, her weight is considered alright but not the height!Sheryl baby, you need to grow taller! As for her head..bobian cos she ‘kok tao’. hehehe…

Pictures in the next post!

2 Missing posts. I don’t understand how the posts just went missing. The thought of having to rewrite everything simply annoys me. Luckily after some ’searching’ thru the archive, I found the post. The timestamp on the post were all wrong. How did it happen?! However, all the pics were gone and I had to relink them. Argh..hope it won’t happen again. What a waste of my time!

Anyway, brought baby to have her 4th month injection (2nd dose of DTP) yesterday. Seems that baby knew the injection was coming. She was screaming as soon as she saw the doctor. Perviously, when we visited the doctor, we never have this problem. Hmmm…

Something for me to remember,

Not much weight gain there…:(

On another note, I realised I haven’t post any pic of my botak baby.

After much screaming (till her face is as red as the tomatoes) my baby has just learned how to flip at 3 month 3 week! :)

I think I slept less than 5 hours last night. Sheryl’s little ‘meowing’ sounds really broke my heart. I hope her temperature will be ok tonight and let her have a good sleep. Arh..Vaccination!

Sheryl was due for her 3rd month check up last Wednesday but the poor girl was having a runny nose so the check up was rescheduled to yesterday. She had her first DPT Vaccine and her 2nd oral dosage of the medicine to protect her from Rotavirus vaccine. Initially I was so afraid that she would not stop crying thus I got her daddy to carry her instead. She was so startled when the needle was inserted into her little buttok. Her daddy sweared he saw her whole body ’jumped’. You can imagine what follows. Thankfully she settled down within minutes and was soon smiling happily to the doctor. Babies…babies…And forgot to mention, it cost us $202. Healthcare for babies sure is expensive!

The doctor also did her 3rd month check and we were glad to hear that both her physical and social development were on track.

Something for me to remember,

3rd month

That puts her into the 90th percentile for baby girls of the same age. Dr Ho mentioned that most babies will doubled their weight by the time they are into their 4th month,. 7kg? We shall see.

Looks like my girl is growing well! :)

It’s the 3rd day of 2009 already and I realised I hadn’t made any resolution!

hmm..anyway, let me look back at 2008. 2008 was a very different year for me. I got married (ok..I know that was dec 2007!) and become Mrs Ang. I gave birth to Sheryl in November 2008. I changed job. To be fair, I do like my previous job alot but I simply couldn’t stand the long hours and my 2 superiors. One only know how to talk and the other one is worse. However, giving birth to Sheryl was a great experience and it somehow change my priorities in life. I guess baby and hubby is on the top of the list now. I no longer had the urge to splurge and i don’t mind staying at home just to talk and sing to baby. If given a choice, I will definitely choose to be a stay at home mum. There’s so many things that we mother and daughter can do together. However, given the current economy situation, I guess it’s wiser for me to continue working to save for a rainy day.

Ok, so what’s for 2009? .. I hope..

1. Baby, darlin and all my loved ones to be healthy
2. A smooth sailing career for darlin
3. Pay rise
4. Darlin to spend more time with baby and myself
5. Darlin and me can own a property

Of course there’s a heap of things that I  to wantwish for but I shan’t be greedy.  These five will do, really.
